I went out for a few hours Saturday evening with mixed results. The water temperature was in the lower mid 60s most places I checked. I started by covering a few 'points' 8-15 feet deep using a deep diving crank bait.

The Bass did not seem to be hitting for me so I switched to Spinner baits and went into some coves fishing the fallen logs. I caught a few fish around two and a half to three pounds right on the shoreline under logs.

It started to look like rain so I decided to check one last spot before I headed home.

About 20 yards off shore just to the east of the shallow water bouey there is a pretty large grass bed with a 20 foot sandy area right in the center. I wanted to fish the edges of the grass with a crank bait hoping for bass or walleye but I only got about 5 casts out before the rain made me go home. One thing worth mentioning was there were a lot of birds in the area picking off bait fish which is never a bad sign.

Thanks for the update project1037. Sounds like the water is cooler than the week before. I tried the spinner bait and deep diver without success on 5/7 but I was fishing the southern points and beach area. I usually pick up a large mouth or two, sometimes a small mouth or a striped bass but no luck. It did seem like there was more activity at the grass lines in 5 feet of water or less. I could see the shad bust out of the grass with something chasing, happened several times, but not once could I get a hit.
